Protestant missions and legal dynamics in the British Empire

The workshop will investigate the role played by Protestant missionaries as legal actors in the common law jurisdictions of the British Empire between the 18th and 20th centuries. Panels will include discussion on colonial territories ranging from British India to South Africa, Australia and British North America. The workshop will also include a perspective on Catholic missions from Institute experts.​
