Yu Wang is a doctoral student at the Research Group Translations and Transitions at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory (formerly Max Planck Institute for European Legal History). He is also currently working on a doctoral degree in sociology of law, culture and China studies at University of California, San Diego. He is mainly interested in the transformation of the legal system in 20th-century China, its influence on re-regulated family order by the spirit of civil law and the correspondence between Chinese law and Chinese society over the past century.
