Merio Scattola has passed away

On Saturday, 23/08/2015, Merio Scattola, Professor of the History of Political Ideas at the University of Padua and author of significant works on the history of early modern political and legal thought (e.g., Das Naturrecht vor dem Naturrecht. Zur Geschichte des ius naturae im 16. Jahrhundert, Tübingen, Max Niemeyer Verlag, 1999; Teologia politica, Bologna, Il Mulino, 2007; Dalla virtu alla Scienza. La fondazione e la trasformatione della disciplina politica nell'eta moderna, Milan, Franco Angeli, 2003) passed away. He was closely tied to the Max Planck Institute for many years. We mourn the loss of such a highly esteemed researcher and dialogue partner.
