Rechtsgeschichte - Legal History (Rg)

Journal of the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History, edited by Thomas Duve and Stefan Vogenauer

Rechtsgeschichte - Legal History is a peer-reviewed journal, published since 2001. Starting with issue no 20 (2012) the publishing concept was reshaped. The journal is published with one issue per year simultaniously as print copy published by Klostermann Verlag and as online version in open access. Each issue assembles international contributions to a thematical focus, a debate or forum section with contributions concentrating on very specific themes and selected high profile contributions on questions of broad interest to legal historians. Last but not least each issue is complemented by a review section. The international and multilingual orientation was extended and reflects the multiplicity of global legal and research cultures.

American Journal of Legal History (AJLH)

The American Journal of Legal History was founded in 1957 and was the first English-language periodical in the field. The journal is now published by Oxford University Press. Its new editors are, Professors Al Brophy (University of Alabama) and Stefan Vogenauer (Max Planck Institute for European Legal History, Frankfurt).

The new AJLH aims to publish outstanding scholarship on all facets and periods of legal history. While retaining its focus on American legal history, it accommodates the enormous broadening of the intellectual horizon of the discipline over the past decade and is particularly interested in contributions of a comparative, international or transnational nature. Book reviews are a regular feature.

The new AJLH is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal, made available in printed and electronic form. Manuscript submissions are handled quickly and efficiently. Manuscripts concurrently submitted for publication elsewhere will not be considered. Accepted papers that have been copyedited and typeset are made available online immediately through the ‘Advance Access’ function on the OUP website.

Administory. Journal for the History of Public Administration

Administory is an annual Open Access journal for administrative history that is published jointly by the Institute of Austrian Historical Research (IÖG) and the Swiss Federal Archives (SFA) in cooperation with the MPIeR. It represents an interface between historical research and the debates on state and administration in the social, legal and political sciences. The focus is on the history of early modern times and modernity. Each annual volume has a thematic focus, which above all opens up the possibility of international comparative reflections as well as a dialogue across various disciplines and spanning different eras. In the adjoining section Relektüre, classics of administrative history and administrative science are re-read in light of their current relevance.

Each contribution is subject to a peer review procedure. Contributions are published in either German or English.
