Opening Conference of the Cluster of Excellence 'Beyond Slavery and Freedom'
On 6–7 November, the Cluster of Excellence 'Beyond Slavery and Freedom' held its inaugural conference in Bonn. On the first day, a keynote talk and a panel discussion on the concept of 'dependency' were held, which was followed by six high profile lectures addressing questions of dependency, slavery, and coerced labour from Antiquity to the nineteenth century the next day. Our Institute participates in the Cluster via the Research Group 'Law and the Creation of Dependency in the Ibero-Atlantic', whose three members were in attendance. If you would like more information about the event, please see the conference programme.
