From left to right: Professors Pilar Perales Viscasillas (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid), Stefan Vogenauer (MPIeR), Anna Veneziano (UNIDROIT), Hiroo Sono (Hokkaido University), Neil Cohen (Brooklyn Law School),  Ning Zhao (Hague Conference) and Luca G Castellani (UNCITRAL). Missing: Lauro Gama (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro).

On 25 and 26 September, the Institute hosted the second workshop of the joint panel of experts preparing a Legal Guide to International Commercial Contracts, with a Focus on Sales. Once finalised, this explanatory text will set out the relationships between various international uniform private law texts, such as the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts (PICC). The intention is for the Guide to be published jointly by the three leading ‘formulating agencies’ in the field, the Hague Conference on Private International Law, the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). The experts worked on the consolidated draft that had been produced following the first workshop, which was also hosted by the MPIeR. The revised consolidated draft will soon be made available to the three agencies.
