Presentation of the Helmut Coing Prize 2016 to Oliver Haardt

Within the framework of the quarterly “Frankfurter Rechtshistorische Abendgespäche”, organised by the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History and the Faculty of Legal Science at the Goethe University, the Association of Friends of the Institute (Freunde des Frankfurter Max-Planck-Instituts für europäische Rechtsgeschichte e.V.) presented the Helmut Coing Prize to Mr. Oliver Haardt for his dissertation project “The Institution of the Kaiser as Problem in Constitutional Law in Imperial Germany (1871-1918)”.

In his laudation of the award recipient, Prof. Michael Stolleis, Emeritus Director of the Institute, emphasised the great legal-historical significance of this work, which is in its final phases. Later Prof. Caspar Ehlers, the Chairman of the Association, presented Mr. Haardt the award certificate. The prize consists of a five-month funded stay as resident researcher at the Institute.
